Explore Magical Makoura Walkways

 Makoura Lodge is known for its stunning and unique surroundings, however many guests have not ventured past our huge open fire onto our 1000-acres of farmland with newly established walks waiting to be explored.

Pure native bush, rolling paddocks, a few hard-nosed sheep and plenty of fresh air; short walks and long, most with hills included, all with stunning scenery!

Maps and guides are here to help you on your way and a great picnic lunch with a well deserved bottle of wine is available upon request.

Farm access in New Zealand is very limited, so come out, follow your feet and make the most of our awesome Apiti walks. When you've had enough, return to the Lodge for a delicious meal and of course the famous Makoura hospitality!

A word from Hugh,

With the sun shining and the tui's singing we are looking forward to all the conferences and work do's scheduled between now and Christmas. Over the past few weeks we have undertaken a major fencing project at Makoura. This has seen 5 kms of new fencing erected which has allowed us to retire wetlands, bush areas & gorges.

The purpose of this project is to encourage regeneration of native bush and attract more native bird life.

This in turn will enhancement the Lodge and farm for future generations and add even more Magic to our beautiful walkways.

End of Year Work Function

Spring is in the air, the daffodils are waiting in the wings and the lambs won’t be far off. That means we need to start thinking Christmas.

I know, sorry, but Staff Christmas parties are a must and Makoura lodge is a sought after venue - we do it well!
